I prefer the S-board but given the rarity of duct tape vs its usage crowbar/shovel tend to win out. Next to cost, this really comes to your supplies: S-Boards take duct tape which is in high demand for things while the crowbar and shovel only take metal, wood and leather - Thus making them a 'cheaper' weapon. For Bunker runs I don't use any weapon under a Machete. IMO a Machete is too 'nice' a weapon for average farming. To one shot a runner you need a machete or stop sign.
I feel the shovel is overkill as it still take four hits/Sneak+1 to kill things just like the S-Board and you can't one shot a runner. Spiked board is my first choice, crowbar second as it take five hits to kill things. Keeping to red zone weapons, I like the spikes board or crowbar. If you go with a crowbar you will take a hit, but the spiked board will allow you to not get hit. The M-Bat is a step up but I haven't used it in so long I can't remember the damage.įor the yellow and red zones if you want to take out the runners without getting hit you need a base 20 damage weapon. The average zombie has 40 health so one sneak, run away and attack give you a clean kill without getting hit. As iBey showed, the spear is the cheapest and perfect for green zones. The gunplay reminds me of Resident Evil 2 guns with the monsters taking nearly a full clip before finally falling. Whether the monsters are aliens, infected or parasites is yet to be seen but they look difficult to take down. It looks like Jacob is armed with a weapon, perhaps a plasma based weapon, which has some pretty heavy dismemberment abilities. If you’re one of the players that think gore is scarier, then never you fret because The Callisto Protocol has that too, in spades. It creates such an eerie and isolated atmosphere so quickly. In that small demo, The Callisto Protocol has shown itself as an immensely scary game just by its use of sound alone. Then the screaming gets closer really fast and all of a sudden, you’re zombie food. Then you hear a scream and a hiss in the distance and you know all of the peaceful days are gone. It’s a peaceful, sunny day on the beach and the only sounds you hear are the swaying of the palms and the lapping of the ocean. “That’s insane!” you scream but I beg you to think of the game’s use of sound. Or example: Dead Island is scarier than Dying Light 2. I’ll argue that the scariest games aren’t always the gory ones but the games that utilize sound the best. The gameplay seems very Dead Space-esque with dark and quiet atmospheres punctuated by the horrifying sounds of something lurking in the dark. That’s the kind of character death that will stay with you for a bit. If you thought getting chomped by a monster was bad, I think that ending raises the stakes quite a bit.
